SYNOPSIS
Role- Designer, creative technologist.
This work is a poetic ode to closed doors. As a white individual practicing anti-racism in America, I question my role and responsibility to open doors traditionally inaccessible for those who identify with different races. When must individuals and communities close doors of economic or social profit when it is not in alignment with the greater good of society? This is a sculptural metaphor for choice, temptation, and parallel realities. It suggests regret, desire, possibility, and linear time.
We must leave the zero-sum philosophy of socio-political rules behind. When must one choose to sit rather than run? When must we break down doors? Or break down walls? We are not race-ing. We are opening new positive-sum languages for our multi-cultural future.
